Water damage doesn’t happen on a schedule, and neither does the work we do. On any given morning, one of our crews might be pulling soaked drywall out of a finished basement, running a moisture map on a kitchen after a dishwasher line failed overnight, or walking a homeowner through exactly what our drying equipment is doing and why. The work is physical, it requires real problem-solving, and at the end of every job, something that was genuinely ruined is either dry and intact or on its way there. That’s not a small thing. At Wendell, since 2006, we’ve built the kind of operation where the technician doing the work knows what the price is, the homeowner knows what the technician is doing, and nobody is guessing. If you want to work somewhere that runs jobs like that, keep reading.
Who We’re Looking For
- Water Damage Restoration Technician: someone who can read a wet structure, set equipment strategically, and explain psychrometric drying to a stressed homeowner without losing them at “psychrometric.”
- Mold Remediation Specialist: detail-oriented, protocol-driven, and comfortable in full PPE – someone who understands that mold work done halfway isn’t done.
- Water Damage Repair Installer: a finisher with real trade skills – drywall, flooring, trim, or carpentry – who takes pride in a repair that looks like nothing ever happened.
- Apprentice / Entry-Level Field Tech: someone who shows up on time, works hard, asks good questions, and wants to build a real career in a skilled trade with a clear path forward.
- Dispatcher / Operations Coordinator: a calm, organized communicator who can manage real-time job flow, coordinate crews, and keep customers updated without losing track of moving parts.
- Customer Experience Representative: a person who genuinely likes talking to people under stress, gives straight answers, and understands that a homeowner calling about water damage needs a real human, not a script.
What We Offer
Real Training and a Path From Apprentice to Lead
We train under IICRC, RIA, and IFA standards – the same certifications used on large commercial loss sites – which means what you learn here is portable and respected across the industry. New techs work alongside experienced leads from the start. The path from apprentice to lead technician is real, not a recruiting line, and we track it with actual milestones, not vague promises.
Work You Can Be Proud Of
Every job at Wendell runs the same way: written price before work starts, photo documentation throughout, and a 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing on every repair. You’re not cutting corners to pad a margin. You’re doing the job the way it should be done, with professional-grade equipment from Dri-Eaz, Phoenix, XPOWER, B-Air, and Injectidry – tools that actually match the scope of the work. That matters when you’re the one holding the moisture meter.
Local Crew, National Backing
Each Wendell location is independently owned and operated as part of the Relay Home Co. family, which means you’re working with a tight local crew that knows its market – not rotating through a regional call center. But you also get the systems, the standards, and the brand reputation of a company that’s been doing this since 2006. That combination is harder to find than it sounds.
Steady, Year-Round Demand
Water damage doesn’t take a slow season. Pipes freeze, appliances fail, roofs leak, and weather events don’t consult anyone’s calendar. Mold remediation and post-damage repair follow on the back of every water loss. The demand cycle in this trade is genuinely consistent, which means the work is there – and our crews stay busy because the Wendell name keeps phones ringing.
No Experience? Read This.
If you’ve worked in construction, plumbing, HVAC, flooring, or any skilled trade, you already have more relevant experience than you think. Reading a structure, working in tight spaces, knowing when something isn’t right – that transfers directly. If you’ve done dispatch, customer service in a high-pressure environment, or any role where keeping people informed was your job, that transfers too.
What we teach: moisture science, drying theory, equipment operation, IICRC-standard documentation, and how to walk a homeowner through a loss without making a hard day harder. Your first months look like field hours alongside a lead technician – real jobs, real equipment, real feedback. We don’t throw apprentices into a van alone and hope for the best. You learn the work by doing the work, with someone who can explain why every decision gets made.
If you’re good with your hands, good with people under stress, and honest, we can teach the rest. Call us and say that upfront. It’s a better opening line than you think.
